Peter J. Burns III: A Marketing Challenge & Opportunity

Each month, I have a breakfast meeting with one of the principals of a $400 million travel related company. During that meeting, we brainstorm together on how my projects and theirs might collaborate for mutual benefit. In the year we have known each other, we've tried a number of initiatives...some which have worked and many that have not. It is true that "nothing ventured, nothing gained" and the upside of coming up with something solid between us is definitely worth the effort.

Yesterday at this month's breakfast, I was challenged with finding a way to "monetize" some of the 7,000 daily calls received by the travel company (as a result of the $2 million per month online advertising budget) that did not result in any sales. While a portion of the rest of the daily calls result in over $1 million in revenue...surely there must be ways to generate some revenue or benefit from the remaining non-producing calls.

I must admit that I am perplexed and not a little motivated by the opportunity to cash in on the solution to this riddle. My friends at the travel company would be generous and fair if I indeed was able to produce a solution. So...I am reaching out to my fellow Linked-In businessmen and women who may assist me on this task...and I will surely share the wealth if together we discover the answer.
